Caranauba paste wax is the best, it's the only way to get carnauba still in a natural state. Liquid wax has processed carnauba which can't give it that extra something that the paste wax gives. On the other hand, liquid wax is much easier to apply and buff off, it's also a bit less expensive. Since most of the vehicles I detail are daily drivers I mainly stick with liquid carnauba, but when it comes to vehicles with really awesome finishes, or if the customer requests, I use paste wax. |
Apply wax in one direction, no circular motions. Apply a light coat and allow it to dry on the vehicles finish. Buff off by hand with a clean microfiber towel, for a typical vehicle I'll use three or four microfiber towels, switching to a fresh one every five or six feet of vehicle. It's real critical to stay out of direct sunlight, especially with darker colored vehicles. If you end up with a lot of smearing or streaking you might want to wash the car again, only use a small amount of soap and don't apply any pressure to your mitt. |
