In my experience there is no polish for chrome, either your chrome is shiny or its flawed, if its not shiny after being washed than it probably needs refinishes. If you need to get something off chrome, like tar or blemishes, use 0000 steel wool. It is possible to polish out small surface scratches and surface rust, but beyond that and you're polishing nickel. | ![]() |
![]() | I like my chrome to be as clean as possible. I've read that waxing and polishing chrome can actually cause it to oxidize, that chrome needs to breathe to retain its luster. Also, blow drying is critical, water will leave a lot of deposits if left to air dry. |
Also, in my experience, I've found only one aluminum polish to be effective and that is Mothers Aluminum Polish, used sparingly, Mothers can polish aluminum from some of its worse states. Better yet, pair up the 0000 steel wool with Mothers and you've got some almost new looking aluminum. Remember, Aluminum is not supposed to look like chrome, it is supposed to look like aluminum, otherwise everything would be chromed and we wouldn't bother with aluminum. Besides, when polished correctly, aluminum is a great compliment to chrome when together. Also, aluminum usually has a protective finish on it, if you have gone through the protective finish, you have gone too far. | ![]() |
