Cracks and Crevices

Cracks and crevices on a vehicle detailied by Fifty Dollar Detail, Ridgefield, WA.

This step is so critical in achieving a well detailed vehicle, it is important to be thorough and focused on this step.  With the detail brush in one hand and the half strength degreaser in the other, spray and scrub every edge, groove, seam, opening, etc. on the vehicles exterior.Spots to remember are the rubber around the windows, inside the gas door, seams between fender panels, around side markers and turn signals, in and around emblems or moldings, around fog lights, around license plates, especially rear plates and their light, and front grill.

Once complete, take the hose and spray using the smallest and strongest adjustment on the hose nozzle, directly into all the places you just scrubbed, the better you blast these spots the less work later.  Especially blast  the door moldings and where the side view mirrors attach.  If the side view mirrors swivel than scrub and rinse them in both forward and reverse positions.  If the area behind the license plate is real bad you may just want to remove the plates all together.  If the emblems are caked with old wax and dirt to the point you can't get them completely clean, remove them with a heat gun to clean them and reattach them when you reassemble the vehicle.
