Interior Detailing

Interior Detailing

For the remainder of the interior I use interior cleaner at half strength, a scrubber pad, a long bristle paint brush, a detail brush, and a clean, wet cloth.  A dry cloth will not pick up dirt, so it must be wet and rinsed out continuously as we go through the interior.

Break areas into sections, start at the top, and hit every surface, every groove, etc. with cleaner and one of the cleaning implements I mentioned above.

Do not scrub wood grain paneling and do not spray cleaner directly into stereo or other electronics.

Don't forget the glove box, behind the ashtray, shift indicator, handles over doors, behind steering wheel, steering column in different tilt positions, pockets on backs of seats, rear cup holders, over head compartments, inside center console, seat tracks, and inside vents.

Either blow dry or allow to dry naturally. Blowing is best to get any residual dirt, but if your damp cloth is continuously rinsed as you clean the interior everything should dry perfectly.  Dressings will only give a temporary wet look that will dry in a day or two and these attract dirt.  If plastic or vinyl is badly faded I will use the U.V. spray, leather gets conditioner.

Here are some before and after pictures from a Firebirds interior that I detailed.  The Firebird was having it's engine rebuilt and had sat for sometime so it was quite the challenge.  Still, the interior came out quite well.
